Whilst the Standard Scratch Score for Wyke Green is 69 the course record set by Mr M.R. Johnson in 1984 is 65, just 4 shots under. Considering the course has been played by literally tens of thousands of players over the past 78 years including some world class golfers such as Gary Player, Greg Norman and Retief Goosen the course has stood the test of time and the vast improvements in standards and equipment. With London Underground, the M4 motorway and the Grand Union canal acting as some of the boundaries to the course Wyke Green could never be considered a place of great tranquility. However within minutes of your first drive the background noise surprisingy drifts away and is swiftly replaced by the everyday sounds of the local wildlife. A half way house refreshment cabin will take your orders as you pass it on the way to the 8th tee and upon arrival at the 10th tee your freshly made snacks and drinks will be waiting for you. Whilst playing off the forward yellow tees is a little less difficult than playing the course at its full length it is recognised by all who play Wyke Green that if you can play to your handicap over its testing 18 holes then you’ll leave the course knowing you’ve done extremely well.
